Ray's Portable Energy Challenges
After buying a new property to build his dream home, Ray was shocked by the cost to get his property connected to the grid. Ray’s local utility provider wanted $130,000 to get power out to the property. With how inconsistent his local grid can be with power delivery, Ray felt that going fully off-grid was a better option. While Ray planned to power the house with an expanded solar array and a propane tank for heating, he was looking for a solution to provide electricity to his trailer while the house is under construction, as well as a power for various construction tools.
The Sun Titan Solution
After speaking with an RPS Solar Specialist, Ray decided on a new Sun Titan solar trailer as his power solution. Given the limited electricity requirements of his current trailer, he opted to go with the (relatively) smaller Sun Titan G8 model, knowing that he would be able to expand his solar array and battery bank later on if needed. The Sun Titan G8 includes 8 GEL batteries, providing up to 7.7 usable kWh at normal discharge. Ray also opted to add a 7,000W generator to his Sun Titan to provide more flexibility in case of bad weather or higher than usual electricity needs.
The Results
The Sun Titan proved to be the perfect energy solution for Ray's property.
After running the G8 Sun Titan with his full loads overnight, including a refrigerator and heater, Ray saw that he would need additional batteries and or solar panels in the future to maintain power consumption of his current lifestyle. He’s relying on generator backup for overnight use when needed to keep his fridge on 24/7.
The Sun Titan exceeded expectations in other aspects. It supported the electricity needs of his trailer and powered heavy-duty tools like skill saws, compressors, and other essential equipment for building his house.
Ray was so impressed with the Sun Titan's performance that he couldn't help but share his experience with his neighbors. Several of them had been paying up to $1500 per month just to keep their air conditioners running during the hot summer months. Thanks to Ray's recommendation, they’re now looking into solar trailers as a more affordable, sustainable energy solution.
